I'm taking my girl who just moved to NY out for dinner and would like some recos of some good places to take a date...
I'm frm Texas so i'm not too familiar with whats around there and i kind of wanted to suprise her by just taking her to a place. I would prefer to stay around the Madison square garden area since thats by where she works.
Types of food dont matter as we are pretty open people about that stuff... Price also doesnt really matter (to an extent LOL). Basically if its going to be worth the experience/food, then im cool with it!
The problem with the immediate MSG area is that it's not a hotbed of fine dining establishments. In neighboring areas, there are some excellent choices, but if I were to pick a restaurant that's not terribly far and offers a great experience, I would go to Chez Josephine on 42nd Street (near 9th) for excellent food and service.
Thanks for that Reco...It's totally fine if it's not around MSG. Just not too terribly far from since we will be going at night and she lives in Brooklyn which is a far transit back...
A little to the east of her office location, you would have Prespa which is on Lexington Avenue, close to 31st Street, while a little to the north, if you like Italian seafood, Esca (9th Ave & 43rd St) gets high marks.
In Chelsea, which is a short cab ride from her office area, you could try Cookshop (10th Ave & 20th St), Del Posto (1oth Ave & 16th St), or Moran's (10th Ave & 19th St).
There's also Allen & Delancey which is at the intersection of Allen & Delancey Streets in Lower Manhattan, and Tocqueville which is at 15th St & 5th Avenue, near Union Square. A bit of a trek, but on the way to Brooklyn, though a tad isolated from the subway, is MarkJoseph Steakhouse on Water Street. NoHo's Five Points, which is owned by the same restauranteurs as Cookshop, is on Great Jones Street. Fraunces Tavern, an historic restaurant is located at 54 Pearl Street. Most anything in Lower Manhattan should not be too terrible for travel back to Brooklyn.
In Brooklyn itself, Brooklyn Heights, you could go to the River Cafe which is on Water Street under the Brooklyn Bridge and offers stunning views of Lower Manhattan, and outdoor dining in nice weather.
Hope that helps to give you some more options for a nice dinner in the city, which is one thing that is never in short supply, a good restaurant.
I really wanna try that river cafe maybe the next day. For dinner, im going to look into ur other suggestions!
