I have a problem with our managment company. Each time I call them to find out the balance on my account, I get no response. They refuse to tell me the balance and they always say that the manager will call me. Each time I ask for the manager he is out of the office, out of town etc. Where can I file a complaint about their business? This is not the first time.

What do you mean by balance ? Don't they send you a bill each month for your maintenance ?

Same thought here.

And regardless of underlying issue: If they/anyone ignores multiple verbal requests about something serious,
-- _put it in writing_,
-- send it via certified mail (so you can track and prove delivery on the USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service) site); and
-- save the cert. mail receipt plus copy of letter.

Because if the sewage hits the fan, you want a paper trail.

Have you spoken to anyone on your coop board ? They are the ones who hire/fire/deal with the management company.

Each time the city send the abatment, the management is the one who receive the money. I have all my payments set as automatic from my bank and for that reason I end-up with over 1000 on my balance. The Co-op board is controlled by the management (they used to own the building, after 20 years they still controll 40%).

If the option is available, have the management agent debit your maintenance from your bank account instead of setting up a fixed payment. That way, if there is an abatement you should only be debited the difference and not accumulate a balance.

My coop also snatches our abatements on the pretense of padding the reserve fund. But it usually works out to a wash so I have no major issue with it.
