Any idea what the reason is for the price difference? Anyone else lived in either building and loved or hated anything?

2500 Johnson is just a more premier building and snobbier. For example, the Metro-North types will have the shuttle bus stop right in front of 2500 Johnson at night. 555 Kappock does not have such an arrangement. 555 Kappock is ok but if you want a more upscale building go with 2500 Johnson. You may also have better views there as it is literally overlooking most of the Bronx and Manhattan.
Both were built around the same time. 555 Kappock was built in 1966 and 2500 Johnson in 1967 but quite frankly 2500 Johnson looks much more upscale, similar to The Whitehall at 3333 Henry Hudson Parkway, also in Riverdale. 2500 Johnson in some ways could compete with The Whitehall, as The Whitehall has always been the golden standard of co-ops in Riverdale. It has a rather timeless look. I believe both buildings have indoor pools, while 555 Kappock does not and while 555 Kappock has indoor parking, I'm not sure if there's a wait list or what. Very possible. 2500 Johnson also has lots of balconies with unobstructed views in most cases, so more outdoor space and quite frankly more privacy. You always pay more for that.
