Moderator note: Moved from another thread, as the topic has gotten off-topic and become a discussion of safety in the Bronx vs. Brooklyn.

lets see you felt comfortable living in that giant public restroom called brooklyn? yet you odn't feel comfortable in the bronx? i think they bronx's reputation is so OVERRATED, especially when you have lived in brooklyn. i still can't understand how someone pays that type of money to live in brooklyn. so why would a white woman be unsafe here and not anywhere else in the world? do you think minorities create committees to sit around and think of different ways to prey on white women?

let me let you and ALL white people in on a little secret. very few crimes are committed by blacks/latinos against white, due to fact the criminals already KNOW the perpertrator will be caught. don't you know nypd gears all their resources in nyc to make white people feel safe? is this news to you?

Is that true? The part where you said, " nypd gears all their resources in nyc to make white people feel safe?..." ?

I'd say this last sentence isn't exactly true.. maybe less crimes are committed on white people, but definitely not for that reason, because that doesn't even make sense. It's usually because the people who are committing crimes all live in the same neighborhood together, and the case with NYC is, that the majority of white people choose not to live in those neighborhoods, so of course the demographic is skewed in that concern. The NYPD doesn't bias itself toward white people more than any other race, especially considering that NYPD is composed of a lot of different people of different nationalities as well...

I would say the Bronx is worse overall but Brooklyn's worst neighborhoods are worse than the Bronx's worst.

Not at ALL. There are barely any safe neighborhoods left in the Bronx. Most of Brooklyn is still safe. You don't know what you're talking about. Let's compare

Bronx
Riverdale
Morris Park
Van Nest
Throggs Neck
Arthur Ave
Norwood (not for long)
City Island

Brooklyn
Bensonhurst
Williamsburg
Brighton Beach
Bergen Beach
Downtown Brooklyn
Park Slope
DUMBO
Bay Ridge
Canarse (most of)
Flatlands (most of)
Bath Beach
Borough Park
Greenpoint
Carroll Gardens
Fort Greene
Sheepshead Bay
Gravesend
Marine Park
Midwood

Hmm....

I agree with this.. I'd rather be at Hunts Point than Brownsville, lol.

Brownsville/ENY is hell on earth, I agree, but beyond that, Brooklyn is way better than BX. Places like Bed Stuy/Crown Heights/Flatbush have a much more healthy mix of people than the Bronx does. Nevermind the other 50% of the borough which is pretty much family-friendly suburbia.

By contrast, the entire west side of BX is blocks and blocks of old worn tenements and the east side is not too much better (Soundview anyone?). It's the definition of ghetto.

But in truth, the hardest area of NY is Newark, IMO.

Lets put it in perspective most of the bxs so called worst neighborhoods are not even that bad to begin with. Brooklyn has way more hoods than the bronx, u open up a newspaper and look at the nypd section, most of the crime comes out of brooklyn. Theres no comparison. The only part of the bronx thats bad is the south bronx. Theres alot more to the X than south bronx
