As some of you may know, I have posted several times asking various "moving to NYC" questions. Well, thought I would post that I just put a deposit down on an awesome 1-br in Astoria! I have spent the last few days just wondering around the neighborhood and so far I am loving Astoria; however, I have two more questions for you guys.

*I am going to be paying $1250 a month for the apartment. It is a real one bedroom one the third floor of a GREAT building. Also, it has an awesome skyline view. Is this a decent monthly rent for an apartment like this?

Also...

*The apartment is on just east of Steinway between 31st and Broadway. So far, I feel like this is a great part of Astoria; however, I would be curious if anyone has anything to say about it.

Thank you guys one more time!!!

That is a great price as long as the apt is decent looking inside. I was looking at some apts. in Astoria 2 years ago and they were charging $1,500 for a 1 bedroom and there were water leaks everywhere and really old bathrooms and kitchens. Broadway is a great area though. You are 31st Street right? The only problem I see with that location is maybe hearing the N train go by? I don't know what your tolerance to noise is but that would drive me crazy. I used to live in 31st Ave. and 35th St. and I loved being there. Broadway and 30th Ave. have all the great restaurants and cafes. Enjoy Astoria!
