So I just drove here from Kansas last night and wow.....
1) I enetered Manhattan from NJ and totally got lost. Thank God my brother was with me. Traffic is crrrrazzzzy.
2) I love my neighborhood in Queens Village but I was disappointed to see that the management crew (my landlords) did not clean up the place. The place was dusty. There was still soap scum in the bathtub. The kitchen and refrigerator were not clean either. Is this common here in NY? This is a pretty decent building with really nice neighbors.
I'm here for another four years. Its going to be interesting.
The only thing that's required from the vacating tenant is that the apartment or house be 'broom clean.' The landlord SHOULD have had it cleaned, but there's no law requiring that, I don't think.
Thanks guys, just hope that I can make friends here pretty soon. I've been a loner most of my life but I knew people wherever I have lived. My brother helped me move in here and just left for the airport 20 minutes ago. Its weird not knowing anyone in a town. Three more weeks till my job starts......
cool, I'm not far from there, closer to Union, but I know the area well from going to high school over there in the 1990s. welcome to the area.
