What is the dress code these days to attend an evening performance on Broadway? Any replies appreciated!

Although these days people attend the theatre wearing anything from jeans to tuxedos, I'd say a good rule of thumb is dressy, but not "formal".

Most shows you can just show up in regular clothes so long as they aren't unsightly. For the rest, think business casual. Collared shirt/polo + Kakki Pants is good enough.

The only "no-no" is sweats.... other than that, I've seen people at shows in shorts, flip flops, jeans, etc.

Just dress neat and clean

You will see everything from shorts and sandals to suits and ties. Pretty casual these days.

It's not to say that you can't wear something dressier. If you dressed for a "night on the town," say a suit or cocktail dress, you wouldn't be out of place. If I'm dining out as well, I dress for the restaurant more than the theater.

The exception is opening night. I always wear a suit on opening night.

The most recent time I went, people mostly dressed like slobs. But you don't have to, of course.
