Hi
I am planning to visit NY on holidays in August. I'm single and want to make sure that the places I stay at are quiet safe.
Can someone recommend which side of central park I should stay in.
A friend recommended The Westin. Is this situated in a safe place and central to most things? Can you recommend something better.

Thanks

So, you're talking about New York City. And more specifically, about the Manhattan district of New York City (since you mention Central Park).

This is where my helpfulness runs out, since I've visited but don't live there. But maybe more forum readers know about Manhattan? Or maybe there's a forum that's more specific to Manhattan?

You're fine in the vast majority of Manhattan. It's extremely safe. If you're not planning to go too far off the well-trodden tourist path you should be absolutely fine.
