Does anybody what they are building right next to the fordham metro north station? I pass it everyday on the train. It is a pretty large construction project
Well, the Fordham Center across the street is a newish renovation. Might be Fordham U related if it's on the Metro North Side. But in general that area is doing a lot of construction. Last time I walked there and turned right to little italy, I saw a plethora of new housing targeted at students. It seemed to come outta nowhere lol.
Also further down towards the Botanical Gardens I've heard they will be doing some major stuff, since that area seems to comprise mainly auto related stores, gas stations etc. The whole area is changing.
I'm pretty sure that's a new dorm. Fordham has been expanding here for a while. They have built a lot of new housing in Little Italy, but generally some pretty unattractive stuff. They also have something now on the Mount Saint Ursula campus (off of Bedford Park Blvd.).
Thanks. I keep holding out hope they will build 2 bedroom condos (decent size and amenities) that are walking distance to the Fordham metro north station or condos near the 125 street station will fall. I saw a decent 2 bed condo listing near the 125 street station for 475,000 recently, but most are at the 550 range right now so it's unlikely, but not impossible, I don't plan on buying till late 2011 or early 2012 so maybe one of those two things will happen, otherwise I'm packing up and moving to CT.
There's lots of co-ops along Mosholu Parkway, which is about a 20 min. walk from the Fordham metro north station, and in my opinion, a much nicer area. I don't know how much a 2 bedroom costs, but I'd think no more than in the 200's. When I go to take the metro north to CT from Fordham, I often cut through the Fordham campus, which is a much nicer walk.
I think its something Fordham U. related. It can only be good for the area. As long as its not another sneaker store, twin donut, white castle, 99 cent, or cell phone place, i'm all for it.
