Just wondering.... myself and my boyfriend are going to New York for holidays. Flying to JFK and we're staying in Manhattan. We were thinking to use Airtrain+LIRR on the way to Manhattan. We'll have two small cases. I was just wondering wheter it is safe on LIRR as I heard Subway could be a bit dangerous (especially the A one which goes thru Brooklin) ???

you'll be fine. how big are the two small cases? its not an issue as far as getting robbed, IMO, its more along the lines of its a hassle carrying luggage up and down stairs and on the train/off the train.

honestly, i've never used the air train before...and rarely use the lirr, so i can't help you out much with that...
i think bringing your luggage on the train is doable, though. i've seen homeless ppl with carts, large bags, etc. get on so...
i don't know which would be easier, though. good luck and enjoy your stay.

You don't have to take the A.. you can just as easily take the E, but the LIRR would probably just be a lot faster for you, so if you don't mind throwing down the money, then go for it.

I think the E subway train is relatively safe and quick especially at 1PM which not a rush period so the trains should not be crowded.
