Hello All..

Let me first describe my situation.

I just moved to NY because of the job. Right now i am living in Queens as my job is in Long Island City. But this place is expensive. I am paying 1300 for a one bed apartment.
Could you please let me know which areas are really good, safest AND comparatively cheap. Less than 1000?

Where should i go? some area in Queens? or in Bronx or somewhere else? Most probably i will need a subway to get to office.

Please give your expert opinion.

Thanks

Whitestone/Bayside are great areas to live in. I wouldn't mind living there myself.

To live in an nice safe area close to Long Island City and to pay less than a thousand for rent check for people needing roommates. You can find a nice apartment that you would not be able to afford otherwise.

I have a friend who just moved into a studio in Astoria for $800/no utilities. Maybe you can try there. It's a pretty nice area too with plenty of access to subways and very close to the city as well.

$1300 doesn't seem bad for a place in LIC...but I guess it depends on where in LIC, they have many new condos/apts that are way more expensive. I think if you want to pay less than $1000 you need to get a roommate or a studio.
I would say neighborhoods that are more affordable but nearby...maybe sunnyside, woodside, and jackson heights.
