If you're being picked up, then Newark is DREADFUL. Getting across the Hudson is a nightmare most afternoons into the middle evening.

LGA is really the closest, but, because of its short runways, has many weather related delays.

JFK usually has the fewest delays.

MacArthur is so far out it might as well be on another continent.

Picked up, yes...but I feel newark is more easily accessed by public transportation than the others...and closer. If I recall, you can't get to NYC from LGA by a train of any sort? So Bette would need to get a cab...mucho $ and could be traffic.

Newark is good train-wise b/c the train goes right to the airport. No cabs needed. A short ride on the NJ transit, presto-changeo you're in NYC. Not to mention, Newark has a supercool moving walkway...every lazy person's dream!

JFK all the way. LGA is a disaster if there's any bad weather (these days its always raining so who knows) and the runways are short and surrounded by marshland, so its considerably more dangerous than JFK.

My vote goes towared EWR, Newark, even if you're getting picked up. Once you get out the Holland Tunnel the Skyway takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get to EWR.

In my experience, Newark gets heavily affected by weather delays, and JFK is overcrowded. If you're flying in late, I'd definitely recommend LGA, since it tends to quiet down the most towards the evening (unless its Friday).

Landing at LGA can be a hairy experience.

You circle the city and suddenly the plane takes a dive and you land in the middle of Queens. Still, I'll take LGA any day over JFK.

Smile Travelling

We leave around 3 PM Fort Lauderdale - get in around 6 PM - did choose Delta b/c of better times.

Thanks for all the comments. Our daughter has flown into EWR many times and has been fine with that. Sometimes a better connection.

Now, we're going to look forward to seeing the city.

Jetblue started ops in 2000 what are you 9 years old? This airline is overrated because of the TV's. Jetblue tends to be disorganized as they are staffed by cheaper people working longer hours. JFK is is haul from the city with a $45 cab ride or 2 hour airtrain/subway mission.

The best deal is to take Delta to LGA and take a cab. Delta has TV too and is a better airline with a professional staff.

Jet Blue. It's a much better airlines than Delta and much more efficient. I would personally fly into LaGuardia if I had a choice, but both airports are pretty comparable headaches. Rent a cab if you don't know your way around. It will be the best $50 you spend on the trip.
