Van Courtlandt Village is okay for now although the Kingsbridge Heights area is slowly declining. It has at least a good 10 years left considering the northward growing decline.

Freak is right you should be able to get an apartment in that price range if you look. REMEMBER TO INSPECT THE BUILDING BEFORE YOU MOVE IN.

Make sure you live north of W 138th Street as well. VERY IMPORTANT. I would not recommend the neighborhood to families but for a young single it's doable. Again, Van Courtlandt Village is north of W 138th Street.

CORRECTION!

W 238th Street. How the hell did I make a typo twice? Can't edit it either.

Van Cortlandt Village has actually become its own neighborhood by belief of the residents, who don't want to associate themselves with the S***iness of Kingsbridge Heights.

Will the Bronx, ever return to what glory it once was. Will the people have pride in there homes/pride in themselves? Will the Bronx Rise Again.
I was doing a Google search on Gormans and it gave me a link to this post. I love Google. And thank you for the great memories. I was born and raised in the Bronx, Creston Ave & 184th St. right behind the Lowe's Paradise. I remember going their on a Saturday morning and spending the whole day watching cartoons and then the main feature. Just one BIG theater with the starry ceiling. I remember riding my bicycle to Yankee Stadium with just $5.00 and not only seeing a game but also getting a program, hot dog, soda and peanuts. I can go on and on but won't now. Those were the days.

183rd (the 2 way street) is particularly a very rowdy strip.
