I'm not sure if anyone can answer this, but I was wondering if anyone knows how competitive jobs in NYC are for people without college educations right now... I'm sending out a lot of applications, and I would love to know how many applicants jobs typically get... Hundreds? I do childcare and afterschool programming.

Job market is like playing the lottory right now. Someone who's pant crease is just a little sharper than yours may get the job over you. But it also depends on the employer. Some may want college education/degree. (Check when applying) Some may find you have better skills than the person with the degree. It all depends. Please keep the faith. When I was down & out I was hired out of thin blue air. I always questioned myself & doubted myself. But I am greatful that people see greatness in me!

I am in the same boat as you. I do not have a degree and am looking for an IT related job and it's been exceedingly hard to land interviews.

I have a degree (and years of experience) and I'm looking for programming jobs and I haven't gotten a call yet. I guess there are just too many people looking right now.
