My family and I are will be coming from Virginia to visit the new stadium for the first time this Sunday afternoon. To save money when going to games anywhere we usually eat lunch outside the stadium. So, are there any hot dog (or other) vending carts just outside? How about fast-food places?
Then, of course, we end up buying some kind of snacks inside later in the game, what's good inside the stadium and how do prices run?
Prices inside the stadium are higher than before, when they were already high.
I was there this weekend, a pizza slice ran $5, a soda is $5, Ice cream starts at $5.50. The vendors immediately outside the stadium have similar prices. If you walk away a block near the old stadium you will find better prices from the hot dog carts.
There are some food spots outside the stadium you can eat at before the game, but none of them are particularly good. My friends like to stop by U.S. Fried Chicken on Gerard Avenue before the game. There is a McDonald's right across the stadium, but it's usually super packed before the game.
Don't try taking food into the stadium, they will find it.
Actually inside Yankee stadium you can get 3 mini burgers or chicken sandwiches with a whole load of Nathan's fries for $10, no drink. Its actually a decent meal that'll fill you up for relatively cheap. If you have a family of 4, you can have this for lunch and if you're not getting beer drinks are $3-$5 depending what you get. So lunch would cost you guys around $60 for this meal and drinks. Its actually not too shabby when you compare what else you get for other prices and how much it fills you up in the stadium. I get this meal everytime and don't bother eating anything else during the game because I'm stuffed from this meal.

The prices are not so much higher than the previous stadium...50 cents more on stuff was all I saw and the usual premium costs of items if you buy from one of the guys walking around the stadium seating areas.
All the areas suck outside the stadium and the food isn't great either.
a Wendy's on River Ave but I don't know if it's still there. When I had jury duty in 2002 there was a restaurant on 161 between River and gerard that had good veggie/turkey burgers and the prices were good too

That restaurant is the Crown Diner Restaurant. It gets very crowded around meal time (due to those coming from the Courts) and during Yankees games. The nearest Wendy's is on 170th St and Jerome Avenue, two stops north of the Stadium. There's plenty of food options on 161st Street that are cheaper than those that are in the Stadium, such as Subway and Taco Bell in nearby Concourse Plaza, the McDonalds and Burger King on 161st Street, and the two pizza shops (Yankee Pizza on the south side of 161st St and Paula Pizza on the north side, I'd recommend Paula Pizza if you want something cheap and Yankee Pizza if you want better quality, albeit expensive). Plus, you have plenty of food carts around.
If you walk on 161 Street towards the Concourse, you have the following:
The Court Deli
US Fried Chicken
Two Delis, including one with tables in the back
Yankee Tavern
Burger King
Two Pizzerias
Also on the south side of 161 Street is a vendor who sells bottled water and peanuts and soda out of a cooler for a much cheaper price than the Stadium and you can bring those items into the game.
Dont forget Giovannis pizza which is behind the Franz Sigel park which is not far from Yankee Stadium. Theres also a couple of diners on 161st street and also a cuban restuarant on grand concourse. You can also try the food court on 161st but I dont reccomind food court because of fast food options. Ive been to the new yankee stadium and the food is good I will post a video on youtube about food at yankee stadium. I spent 50 bucks on food at the new Yankee stadium. If you go gate 6 thier is an Hard Rock cafe and also yankee steakhouse which are open everyday!
there a place in the stadium where you can get a corned beef sandwich? if there is i would imagine the price would be outrageous regardless if it was a well-stuffed sandwich or not.
