Are you going to Fordham University or Botanical Gardens? Those areas are fine, but again, Webster Ave covers basically the whole borough so that's still a big generalization, lol.

Anyone familiar with the area near the subway (No. 4) station Kingsbridge Rd, University Ave? Safe or not?

Kingsbridge & Jerome is where you'd come off the train, right by the Kingsbridge Armory. The neighborhood is dense, and can be quite loud and packed with people, especially on Jerome and Kingsbridge. Some blocks in this vicinity are not the best, and can even be intimidating, but the main roads should be fine. Are you considering moving to this area, or just visiting?

The area has a higher crime rate, overall, in comparison to other areas of the city, and even other nearby areas in The Bronx.

Webster avenue is a large strip. IMO is one of the worst street names in the borough (crime wise). You look at any Bronx murder map, and you will see that Webster ave holds a large percentage of the homicides. It's no joke. Whether it's by the PJ's on 169th or by Fordham rd on 187th....it's rough!

And that area of Kingsbridge and Jerome is the hood. Terrible place. I remember walking by Kingsbride rd and Morris/Creston....ugh. What a dump.

There is alot of marijuana there like there is in the other Bronx hoods.

Oh, now come on....It's not that bad. With all due respect, Supermario, I feel as though you are exagerating somewhat. Sure, some of the sidestreets are sketchy, but overall that area is not that rough. And this is me speaking from personal experience. I'm always around that area, both during the day and night, and have never had an incident.

From what I've read about Paterson NJ back in john jay college , Paterson NJ use to be heavly rough and not long ago Paterson NJ had a severe Drug problem with trade and addiction and also a heavy problem with HIV. If anything Paterson New Jersey is more dangerous then the Bronx. IF your asian and you want to live in the Bronx my best bet is eastern bronx probably the parkchester area or maybe pelham parkway area. Western portion of the Bronx around highbridge mt eden and university hieghts is a bit scary and intimidating and you be an easy target!
