My husband and I will be staying at the Ritz down in Battery Park for the night and I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for some decent lounges/bars or clubs (preferably house music) and they don't have to be in the area. We have no problems grabbing a cab and heading elsewhere if the place is worth it.

The Ritz has a bar, Rise, but from what I've read of online reviews, it's view is its selling point and with tonight's forecast, I don't think they'll be much of a view.

We're definitely not into pubs or places along those lines. We'd prefer something a bit more dressy/trendy.

Thanks in advance for your help!

34 and DH is 39

we used to be big into the club scene several years ago, but now that we have kids, we're kind of out of the loop.

Hmmm....there is always Marquee...which alot of my older friends go to (in their 30's, im only 23). I would recommend Greenhouse, which is a huge "hot spot" right now, however the mean age there is like 20...no joke. I felt like a grandma. Citrine and Griffin are cool too. Although I went to Griffin at 3:00am. there is also M2 if you like HUGE clubs that remind you of vegas. Make sure you take a taxi home tho. I live 2 blocks away from citrine and when i go i always take a taxi home becasue u never know hows out at 4:00am..

Hope this helped!

Rise is very nice when it is a clear day. Pricey, but like you said, you are really paying for the view. Worth having at least a drink there considering you are staying there.

We tried to go to Rise last night, but didn't know they closed the bar at 10pm It was 10:30pm by the time we got up there and saw their hours.

So we hopped in a cab to head towards Marquee, only to find out that they weren't open yet (it was 11:10pm).

So we decided to head to the meat packing district because the last time we were there to eat at STK, there was a lot of activity. Had a few drinks at STK, then decided to head home around 2am.

We tried. Thanks for the help guys! Hopefully we'll get another shot at the club scene in the near future.

Really? I thought they all opened at 11. Most walk-ins are at 11:15 or 11:30!

I've only been there at like 3:00am when someone knew the bouncers cousins dog walker or something random like that so we could skip the cover lol.

I'm glad you liked STK. Tenjune is right below. But I hear horror stories of how hard it is to get in. I hear they line up all the groups of girl the promoters bring in order of cutness and then cut the last six! Lets just say thats made me too afraid to even go there...

Yeah, we were shocked. They were turning everyone away saying the club wasn't open yet and to go nextdoor (Glass I think it was called) for a drink or two until it opened.

We thought about trying Tenjune afterwards, but we didn't know what the crowd was like. There was a place across the street that seemed to have a lot of people waiting online, but I didn't catch the name of it.
