What are some pretty easy, non-selective colleges to get into in NYC? I heard St.John's is one, is that true?

I wouldn't say they (St. Johns) are non-selective. They do have some standards.

I think a school like Monroe or St. Francis would fit the profile more of what you are looking for.

Some of the 4-year CUNY's have a rep for being fairly easy to get into like Lehman and York for instance, or you can go to a community college for a couple of years then transfer. But are you an NY res?

^Nop, I am an NJ resident. So would you say St.John's is difficult to get into? That's the school I am interested in going to. From what I've heard, it's a piece of cake to get into unless your planning to study premed stuff ... something like that ...

It really depends on what you are going to study.

The Pharmacy and Physician Assistant programs are really great...and are pretty competitive. The work in those programs are tough too.

General life advice would be to choose a college that would help you with your future goals (try to figure out what you want to be).

BTW: you do know that St Johns is in Queens and Staten Island? Not exactly close or easy to get to NYC.

St. John's is quite competitive, one of the reasons being compared to Ivy and near Ivy schools, the tuition is relatively low. For this reasons there are those with the grades for say Columbia or NYU, but find the tuition prohibitive often choose St. John's, or, for better example, SUNY Binghamton or Buffalo. Not exactly Ivy, but equally as hard to get accepted.

A previous poster's suggestion of Monroe or St. Francis is a good bet.
