This development is very impressive and will take the community to new heights. I would love to live here but I don't qualify unfortunately...but this is a MAJOR game changer for the area and reinforces all the great changes happening to the South Bronx. For all those wondering/complaining about the lack of quality working/middle class housing CLOSE to Manhattan...THIS IS IT! Thank you BLoomberg!

The Northrose and the surrounding development of Melrose and Morrisania is giving new life to 3rd Avenue and East 163rd Street, an area that has been desolate for many years.

The development looks very impressive, I thought these units were gonna be condo or co-ops, but I looked at the application and it seems all the units are rental. My question is how are they gonna maintain all the amenities if they are not collecting maintenance/ common charges from the residents?

Just like to inquire if anyone has any information/opinion about this new development (Northrose). I plan to go there and check it out for myself. From looking at the website, the building and its amenities seem to be very nice. Hoping the rent amounts are reasonable for this area.

I hear from some people that the area is up and coming and it is something to look into in the near future.

In general:

How is the neighborhood (clean, quiet, greenery, residential, or commercial)?
Is it safe (especially coming home late evenings)?
How is public transportation?

Thanks for any comments given!

I'm very interested in the Northrose apartments that are begin developed. My question is - Since the area seems so busy, how is parking in that neighborhood?
Thanking you n advance

Free parking is TERRIBLE. But there are a fair number of parking lots for pay.
