hey there!

where do I go to find out in advance for what parades (or other races/disruptions/advisories/etc) there are in NYC on the weekends (where they close off the roads and make driving impossible)? I know I can turn on 1010 WINS or whatever, but they only tell you the day of I think.

Especially now with the warm weather, I was stuck in traffic today for the bike race on 6th avenue, and would like to know if I can find out information in advance (on a website or whatever) to plan better, say for the entire summer...funny yesterday I was stuck in traffic for some motorcycle race on the GWB and that was a killer as well!

Thanks!

Check out The Daily News' Gridlock Sam.

It should give you at least a day's advance warning.

Here's what I have found:

For Parking issues, alternate side calandar etc, http://www.nyc.gov./html/dot/html/motorist/scrintro.html (broken link)

Try this for any traffic related issues, although I don't know how far in advance they post: http://www.trips123.com/traffic_main.asp (broken link) or http://www.traffic.com/New-York-Traf...html?ct=ma_map or http://metrocommute.com/index.html#top (broken link)

If you want to know about traffic issues as a result of fires or crimes you may want to keep this handy: http://gothamist.com/labs/map (broken link)

Hope this helps.
