How can they check your rental history??? A credit check is not going to show your rental history. The only way a rental problem would show up on your credit report would be if a former LL sued you and got a judgement against you.

I've never heard of a "rental history" or "rental check" before.... can you explain what this is? It's NOT a credit report, though, that's for sure.

It still sounds very strange.... I don't know if I would want to deal with a company like this.

Every broker I have spoken to says they run a credit check (nothing new), so "rental history" seems to be broker terminology for checking to see if you have been evicted and have judgments owed on collections accounts.

So they're not checking your rental history; they're running a credit check and using the extra wording to make you think you're getting a bargain for your $25.

I would love to know why these brokers are permitted to charge prospective tenants for credit checks ---- isn't that the cost of doing business and don't they take that off their taxes at the end of the year as a business expense??
