are there any double decker buses in nyc? i heard somewhere there were trial runs for them... if not, why arent there?

There are double-deckers, but they're tourist buses.

Yes, there are doube-decker buses in the city. They are used in Manhattan for tourist sightseeing trips. Commuter buses are conventional city buses and coach buses (express routes), but double-deckers are not transit buses right now. The MTA is considering bringing them back to the city, as they were used for general transportation in decades past, but no test routes have been selected yet.

I believe they tested on 4 MTA bus routes (2 express routes & 2 local routes) the BxM3, X17J, M15, & M5. If I remember correctly this bus was borrowed from MegaBus for testing purposes. This was around Summer 2008 I believe.
