Im gonna attend an event at MSG in January. I will have enought time to eat at formal restaurant, but I know it will likely be extremely cold and I don't want to walk there from Times square if possible. Can anybody tell me the restaurants on or very close to 34th street west side (within a 2 block radius, north or south). Chain and "moms and pops". Any answers would be appreciated.

I'm confused, are you in Times Square to begin with? You can always take the subway from Times Square to Penn Station. But there is a steakhouse on streetlevel in the Garden, a TGI Friday's across the street, the Tick-Tock diner across from there, a barbeque place called Brother Jimmy's on 33rd street, pizza and greek type places going down 8th, and more. There's also Irish pub type places on the sidestreets heading east.

It's definately not the best area in town to grab a bite, but there's stuff there.

If you have the money to eat at a formal restaurant, don't you have enough money for transportation? It seems a pity to waste the opportunity of taking advantage of the breadth of NYC restaurants by going to a chain.

If you have the money and want the best Steak in the country...AJ Maxwell's is the place. As far as not wanting to walk; You are in or will be in NYC. We have Bus, Subway and Taxi's. You can get anywhere in NYC at any hour of the night or day.

I live in New York. I don't want top take the train there for 42nd street for my own reasons. You never answered my question. Anyway I decided on the Brother Jimmy's. Thanks to everyone that answered my question.
