I hate to argue but you obviously haven't done enough research to know that $2000 wont last you 15 minutes here.

I moved here all alone from Ohio about 5 months ago. I understand that you need to get out of where you are now/you hate being in a small down ect ect I'Ve heard it! I've heard it all!

I'm 23 and I am in graduate school. I did my undergraduate in Ohio and now I'm doing my graduate work.

Jobs, especially the ones you want, AREN'T that easy to find! Many many of those "grocery store" type jobs require NYC experience. Your best bet is to go to college. Why not apply to an NYC college and then you can live in student housing? I know our student housing isnt too bad based on what I've seen. You really need to plan this better tho...

NO!!!!! Unless you LIKE paying for a garage (which, in Manhattan START at $400/month and go up from there), paying for insurance which is several THOUSAND/year and getting your car dinged and generally beaten up.

The alternative to a garage is searching for a parking place every other day for about 40 minutes so you don't have to move it for street cleaning.

And can you really AFFORD a car on the kind of salary you'll be making? Probably not. Rent a car if you need one.
