It looks okay, but I hate those open buffet things --- just the thought of the bacteria, germs and dirt completely disgusts me.

I like Red Mango, but just plain, no toppings.

Nay. Pinkberry should be a Cali thing...it's weird having that here...I mean I don't have a problem with the actual product itself (although it's quite overpriced) but I find the store layout and the whole marketing concept very non-NYC. This is something that probably would not have went over very well here in NYC 10 to 15 years ago, but I take it as another sign of how much the city has changed in character.

Do you think it doesn't belong because of the weather? I always think its strange how people buy these frozen deserts in cold weather.

And I wonder if they give free samples. I'm not interested in paying boatload on a rinky dink product that I may not like.

Thats all behind glass and the employees put the topping on so i guess it's limited exposure to people which is better.

There are a bunch of Pink Berrys in NYC why the concentration on the one in mid town?

I agree. I work on Court Street in downtown Brooklyn. We don't have Pinkberry, but we have 3 frozen yogurt places in the space of 4 blocks. They opened up within months of each other. One is Red Mango, one is Yogomonster and I can't remember the name of the 3rd one. (Yogomonster does give free samples, but my friend at work says it tastes like $%&!). None of them is busy, even in the summer. In the winter, they're positively deserted. I don't know how they stay in business. If they were smart, they'd follow the business model of the Blue Marble ice cream parlor near my house which has bagels, soups and a kid-friendly atmosphere. Even in the summer, I can't see having frozen yogurt for lunch. I'd rather have a salad.

That's different, then. From the pic, I thought it was a buffet-style thing.

How much is the ice cream there? I would love to try it.

Oh it's not ice cream, it's "natural," yogurt. It tastes sour.

I think of it as sweet with a tang to it.
