After 40 years, the South Bronx is getting a higher-end hotel, the Fairfield Inn. It is a Marriot owned brand, and will be built on Third Avenue, between E135th and E136th streets. Construction is likely to begin early next year....this will be great for the community!
Wow fantastic news!! In the 80's and 90's if you will have ask anyone that they should put a real Hotel in the South Bronx they will laugh at you because it would sound as a joke. No joke now, The South Bronx is getting so attractive!
Yeah I though it was pretty cool..it will do well, especially during baseball sason. I will finally have somewhere for people to stay when they visit instead of my couch!
Third aveune and 135-136th street, if I can recall those streets have been recently rezoned by the city for taller buildings. Well lets see how nice this hotel looks, I just hope it does not attract prostitution which will be another problem just like how the Howard Johnson in does on sedgwick avenue right next to the Bronx Task Force Police station. Decent hotels have been long over due here in the Bronx. Queens has some decent 3-4 star hotels by JFK and LA Guardia Airports and Brooklyn has a couple of high rise Hotel buildings by its civic center. I remember 161st was supposed to land a couple of hotel deals. Overall this is good news for the South Bronx, lets just hope this hotel does more good for the community then bad.
