I've used craigslist's moving site many times for work and here's the deal--there are some excellent companies and independent man-with-a-van services but you have to pick-them out from the spammers and undependable *******s who clog up the site.
Any craigslist ad with an image is probably spam (if you look to the right of the title and see the word "img" in yellow don't bother clicking on it) .
And google the company name. NYcityVAN, for example, has lots of online reviews on yelp and other sites and they have trucks as well as vans. I can also recomend Kevin's Van Service and Gentleman With A Van, both of whom also advertise on cl.
I just used one last week from Cl. I went from hostra to Manhattan. They were great. He gave me an estimate of how long it would take and how much right over the phone. They came right on time to move me.They were two clean cut guys and very fast. His name was John 516 749-1790.Anyway I would totally recommend them.
I did twice.www.themanwithvan.com
A bit more expensive but great service.
