Hi
We are coming to NY for the 1st time & have found an apt in a TH to rent for 5 days. It's on 140th in Hamilton Heights near Broadway. $210 per night. Looks very nice but wonder if too far away for sightseeing, etc...

Want to check out low, midtown & Brooklyn a little. Wonder about safety as well. Can anyone who lives in NY give a little help?

Also have considered Candlewood Suites in NJ by the waterfront or Embassy Suites in Secaucas, NJ.

What do you suggest. I don't want to be horribly far away but also can't spend more than $2-250 per night for 3 people. Has to be a suite or 1 bedroom or 2...
Thanks!

Gotta love how they call it "Hamilton Heights" now.

There is ZERO sight seeing in that area. You will have to jump on the train and get out of Harlem first. That is not really an area that will give you a nice impression of NYC btw. It is heavily Dominican, Black and poor. It's also far from the safest.

However you might be fine for a 5 night stay. Just don't have high expectations.

Dude your racist. Aren't you a police officer? Scary.

Many of your co-workers these days are hispanic or black and came from poor neighborhoods, I wonder what they would think about some of your posts.

I'm not White, I grew up in the same neighborhoods i'm talking about. A lot of these people in the ghetto don't represent the Latino and Black cultures. They represent the ghetto culture. That's the big problem in these areas. The ghetto, don't give a **** about life, welfare mentality killing my people.

And if you think the things I say are bad, it's just the sad reality.

The fact that you aren't White, has nothing to do with it, racist does not equal White, plenty of people are racists and aren't white.

Your not white, and you grew up in these neighborhoods so you should know more than anyone that not every person in these neighborhoods is ghetto, a thug, criminal, or criminal in training. Plenty of good, hard working people, and that was part of my point in saying that quite a few of your co-workers these days come frome these neighborhoods.

You do a disservice by painting with such a broad brush and people on here take you more seriously because your a police officer. I know your out there as a police officer and you see a lot of bad things, but some of us have also seen a lot of good things. There is always a balance.
