Thought about posting this in General U.S., but I figured more locals would visit the L.A. and N.Y. sections, respectively.

I'm looking to move soon to start an acting career. Please, I'm not looking for people to respond and say 'you have no chance', because I do have acting experience and I'm serious about it.

I'm just looking for opinions on whether L.A. or N.Y. would be better for me? I don't know how to drive, and don't plan on learning anytime soon. I've heard it's hard to get to auditions in L.A., where as in New York you can just take the subway to get there?

Positives for L.A. for me is the min. wage is higher and rent is cheaper. I don't know if rent is cheaper for real, but it just looks that way from Craigslist.

I'm not looking to audition for TV. Only feature-films. Isn't L.A. more TV-oriented? In my decision, I mainly want the place that has more auditions but it's easy to get to auditions without a car...

Thanks so much for anybody who chips in!

L.A -- I lived in that cesspool and that was on the Hill "The oozing sore of the earth" as a funny old lady told me wile I was cusing at a bus stop (nothing was in English).

Now in LA you need an aeroplane or really plan to starve. The good actors like Charize Theron formed there own indie film companys and shoot in Canada (fed up with all the unions, big studios and corruption.
NYC is mostly print stuff, the big studios wont touch an unknown.

Find another trade !
The film industry is going down faster then the Titanic all the rats are fighting or using each other like tampons.
LA sucks you cant do anything without a car ! If you WALK the cops bust you for J-walking or disturbing guard dogs on every property.
1/2 that crazy city cant speak English !

Generally from what I understand if you want to break into movies/tv, LA is generally better. The thing is in LA there are tons of people in that same boat (trying to be actors), in NYC not as much. Where do you have more connections? Wherever that is, go there.
