Decent 2 bedroom in Manhattan under $3000 impossible? (Washington Heights: apartments, lease, brokers)

You could a nice 2-3 bedroom in a decent part of Harlem, or a decent one between 96th & 110th, but it would probably be a bit of a hike to a train in a walk-up. If you find one below 96th st, it will either be really small, really really far from a train, or not in great shape.
You need to define what you mean by decent (size, building amenities, location). They have studios for $800 in Hell's kitchen , but they are 64 square feet with airplane bathrooms and shared kitchens. Some people will live like that for the location, others won't.
It's definitely possible, though you'll have to define "decent." I used to rent what I considered a decent two bedroom in Washington Heights for $1600.
I've been looking on brokers websites and they have plenty of nice looking REAL two bedrooms for under 2500.. Mod cutI wouldn't think they would post misleading ads on their websites that would be foolish! What do ya think?

I think its possible to take pictures at a very flattering angle which make things look at a lot bigger and better than they actually are.
It's also easy to not mention that a place is a walk up, overlooks another building or is far from the subway. No one said places can't be found, but they won't be big or all that nice.
That's not true at all! I have a friend that signed a lease this past summer for a 2-bedroom apartment with a renovated kitchen and bathroom in a nice area of the East Village - $2650/month. Real bedrooms, each is a good size and is not converted from part of the living room.
I know of someone else that has a 2-bedroom in a doorman building in the Upper East Side for $2900 - and they are real bedrooms, not converted from part of the living room. I believe the lease was signed within the last year.
Though the median monthly rent for a 2-bedroom is certainly more than $3000, there are deals to be found.
Oh yes that's more than enough I lived in Washington Heights aswell. It's a great place to live in everything is a hop skip away.. And the food is great.
I understand wide angle lenses and camera angles.. But I'm not looking on craigslist! They are brokers pages.. I've spoken to some and they've sent me pics.. I also understand that neighborhooods vary by block.. I wish I could send you links.. but these apartments look pretty amazing for the money.. just sayin
