We will find out the number of no shows for orientation in a few days
but at least 40% is hard to believe. On average it's been 35 out of 50 show up for orientation.
MY TIME ON THE JOB WAS IN TIER 4{ NOT THE 70s } THE MEDICAL IS WHAT IT IS THEY CHECK OUT YOUR BODY, YES THE PHYSICAL TEST WAS HARD .THE 30 YEAR PENSION WAS TAKEN AWAY IN THE 80s ONLY IF YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE 20 YEAR PENSION AND
PAYING BACK SOME MONEY ,AND THEN PAYING DOUBLE INTO YOUR PENSION EVERY WEEK ,I KNOW GUY'S WHO DID NOT JOIN THE 20 YEAR PENSION AND THEY ARE STILL WORKING BAD MISTAKE ON THERE PART .ALL NEW SANITATION WORKERS ARE IN THE 20 YEAR PENSION NOW .AS FAR AS THE 20 YEAR PENSION WE GOT THAT BACK BECAUSE THE UNION FOUGHT TO GET IT FOR US .REMEMBER YOUR NOT SITTING BEHIND A DESK EVERYDAY YOUR PICKING UP GARBAGE EVERYDAY YOUR BODY HURTS AND SOME BREAK DOWN .GOOD LUCK TO ALL !!!!!!!!

THANKS
I know someone stated this is not the forum to discuss this, but isn't this the DSNY on the job discussion forum? I don't understand the problem with saying what the top pay is, what the starting pay is, what the vacation is. Isn't it all in the contract, visible to the public? I'm sure there are plenty of people, myself included who would like to know this stuff, the good & bad about this job.

All those questions get answered at orientation. Just spend the time to go to orientation. Or just go to sanitation website.

DSNY - The City of New York Department of Sanitation

Realistically, how many do you guys think will be called from this list? Once the new exam is given will they discard this list?

Feb of 2014 is when the list expires, they give the exam 1 year prior to
the expiration date, so look for the next DSNY exam sometime in the summer of 2013.
The day after the 6063 list expires is the day that the new list will be "established."

ohh it's quite possible my friend if you haven't completed your probation...you can be hired back under a different tier.....again I know its rumors but these new guys should know exactly what could happen because most are leaving good careers and they should be well informed....I can totally see the City being pricks and pulling a stunt like this
