I've always wondered what the difference is between motorman and conductor. Is the motorman the person driving the trains and the conductor is the one who makes the announcements?

You got it!
The conductor also works the doors and, to be honest, deals more directly with the public. This is why some people won't even consider the conductor's job. I, personally, don't know what planet those people are from. I loved my time as a conductor.

I assume the conductor would have to have some kind of training as a motorman in case the motorman they're working with gets sick while driving the train or something?

Conductors have no training whatsoever when it comes to "driving" the train. On the other hand, the motorman can assume the role of conductor(e.g., the shuttle trains).

Traditionally, motormen went to that title from conductor, so at least they knew what they needed to do. Since the first open competitive exam in 2002, however, there are now motormen who never worked as conductors. C'est la vie!
if you took exam #8094 for conductors or any test for the mta how do you reach out to see if you have been called or tried to be contacted an mta worker told me a place in Brooklyn on livingston street does anybody know the exact address or building i would be looking for
when the mta conducts drug test are they done through urine blood or follicle (4-13-2012)
The drug test is a urine test. 180 Livingston St(between Smith and Hoyt sts) is where you would go.
I believe there is another building on that block(160 Livingston St) that is used by the MTA as well.
does anyone know if mta is hiring from o/c list for conductor, exam #8094
They have been hiring from that open competitive list since at least last June, after having gone through the promotional list. Not sure how many more classes they are taking in from that list.
