there are probably at least 20,000,000 streets that are jay walked daily
I jaywalk myself. The rabbi got a jaywalking ticket. Get over it! The cop was trying to make a quota and got the rabbi jaywalking redhanded. Jaywalking is illegal in nyc although the law is rarely enforced. I bet a lot of other nyers have gotten one. And those people called the cops who gave them the ticket, *******s, pigs, etc.
I got a warning for jaywalking in LA. I saw the police officer before I did it too, I didn't think I was doing anything wrong to be honest. I jaywalk like a B*tch here.
I got hit by a car while crossing a main street...and I had the light! That incident has not caused me to wonder about jaywalking, but rather, a stricter system of licensing for drivers.

Same thing here. The one time I got hit (and am still in physical therapy for, ugh), I was totally in the right; some other jackass couldn't be bothered to check behind him before backing out of parking space.
That's what I get for waiting on a light and not jaywalking...
IMO, if the city started handing out jaywalking tickets more often, there would be less traffic jams in the city and parts of Queens. It's ridiculous how so many people feel that THEY have the right of way to walk into traffic when they clearly do not have the right of way. It's not enforced 24/7 because the city doesn't have the money to pay cops to sit at a corner handing out jaywalking tickets. Someone gets a ticket for technically breaking the law, then get over it.
Just hope that our wonderful mayor doesn't read this thread too thoroughly; he'll up the fine so that it becomes worthwhile. So enjoy jaywalking instead.
Jaywalking is illegal. It was only enforced when Giuliani was in office, but when he left it was no longer enforced.
New Yorkers dont wait for a green light, they edge themselves into the street & wait till there is a small gap between cars to cross.
