A few months back, my knee problems got so bad that I stopped using the subway and started using the bus. Now, I'm total "bus" person and don't even want to use the subway unless 1. It's a line where I can use an elevator or escalator at the beginning and end of my route and 2. it's far enough away that I would get there much quicker via subway rather than bus.

So, how does everyone else here feel?? Do you prefer bus over subway? Subway over bus? Walking?

The subway is far, far faster than the bus. I take the bus frequently, but it's because I live on Avenue C and there are no trains over there.

I come all the way from Wading River to visit my GF. I take the LIRR to Jamaica and take the E train to the 6 up to the Bronx. It's pretty quick, I've taken the Q44 to the Bronx, it seems like forever getting through Queens. The car is not an option. I've had my windows broken into on the UES because some lowlife saw some pennies and dimes I threw on the floor for good luck. Imagine if I took the car to the Bronx.

I don't like taking the bus, always was a train person.

No traffic lights, traffic, and it's faster.

Plus since I know live in Jersey, I have no choice to take the bus but as soon as I come to the city, its the train all the way.

Actually planning on moving back to NY just because the convenience of the train, haha.

I'm a big walking fan. I walk to my school in Times Square from Chelsea and then back. I have friend who take the subway for 1 stop which to me is pointless. I am also trying to get into the bus! I like seeing the outside world.

the only reason i ever use the bus is because i live on the eastern edge of queens. i never ride the bus in areas where there's a subway station.

Outside of Manhattan it is not always possible to get around using only the bus. So even with knee problems one may be forced to take the subway to/from stations that only have stairs.

Whichever's quicker... which usually means subway for long trips and bus for short trips/places the subway doesn't go...
