I didn't take the subway (I used the bus or LIRR) but I hate when people rush in back of you trying to get to the door constantly saying "excuse me" & "I'm getting off", like damn chill out I'm getting off too lol.
I drive the trains now but I remember back when I used to ride as a passenger my #1 peeve (listed already by many others as well) was having someone come and sit right next to me or across from me in an otherwise nearly empty car.
As a motorman now what gets me aggravated is when people blast music even with headphones on so loud I can hear it in the motormans cab. When it gets too much I've been opening the door and telling them to turn it down and they're always stunned that they're being told something , it's like they think it's their right to annoy everyone with their music.
On a side note , from one MTA employee to all you riders , thanks for patronizing the system , it's appreciated.
The LIRR Wall St. people that get on at 34th St. Penn St. and will push their way on an already crowded train and shove their big azz briefcases in your side or back and not say excuse me or look at you like there's something wrong with you.
Mentioned before but those that feel they are entitled to a seat regardless the size of their body.
Parents who think the train is a playground for their children and allow them to run, stand on the seats and slide on the pole and if the train stops abruptly they go flying down the train.
Strollers at rush hour, why even make appointments around this time. When my kids were small I made sure my appointments were mid morning and no later than 3pm so I don't get caught.
Yawners and coughers that don't cover their mouths.
Out of towners who don't know to hold on to the pole when the train leaves the station and they fall on your or step on your feet then look at you and smile. Hell what happened to sorry.
Loud, obnoxious middle and high school kids. No need to explain.
Drunk people coming or going to Yankee, Ranger, or Mets games.
Anyone that feels they must get on that overcrowded train and ask you to move in a bit, knowing you can't even breath. Hell there's about 3 more trains behind this one.
Another one.... people who stare at you for no reason whatsoever (trust me, it's not because of my good looks!). You want to say something but you don't know if the person is a nut.

^^^^^^^^
ppl falling asleep on me.
(usually loud/obnoxious/etc.) bums that get on as soon as you get passed roosevelt island.
The passengers who always seems to step on your shoes and scuff them. Fortunately, I have developed a "spider sense" and can detect when they are near without looking up. As a visual verification, they often have a look of confusion and stupidity that, to paraphrase Potter Stewart, I can't define but I know it when I see it.
And lets not forget sandwich man - the guy who insists on unwrapping a greasy sub (usually with too much dressing and onions) and gets involved far too close to your jacket.
people jumping/falling on the tracks. i only seen this twice and luckily both times they got up for the train several minutes b4 the train arrived. all the things are minor compared to that
saw a dude awhile back that threatened to jump.
my head already hurt and this guy is making a scene about how he's going to do it.
i was thinking, well **** go ahead and do it. my head already hurts and i just wanna get home and now you're about to create a delay.
luckily he didn't do it. wasn't trying to see anybody die anyway.
the sneakers thing...i collect and like to wear rare sneakers. i'm one of the guys who will camp outside of niketown, etc. do NOT step on my sneakers. period. watch where you're walking. i'm not saying i'd cause a scene, but watch where you walk.

i hate this too.
lol @ some of the other comments here, tho.
Today I saw several people standing way too close to the edge at the 6 Bleeker stop, which is a very narrow station if you've ever been there. People just don't learn. One girl had a purse that was barely strapped to her shoulder.
