If people disappeared for just a short while, among the first things to die in LA would be the Palm Trees which would dry up and blow away; they are NOT native trees.

LA is broiling hot and as dry as a desert...my last Summer visit had me walking around with a bloody nose and eyes as dry as a dust storm.
No thanks.

I have a terrific suggestion for those who like LA...move there?

Anyhoo..... since I already have a Windmill Palm planted in my patio for the past 4 years and it's doing fabulous.....I'm also hoping to plant one at my local community garden, "La Roca", on Elton Avenue on 160th Street. I've already planted, 4 years ago, a Dawn Redwood Tree at my local community garden, "Rincon Criollo", on Brook Avenue and 157th street and it's now HUGE, healthy, and beautiful!

That's an excellent suggestion. In fact, if you ran for political office with that as your platform, you could count on my vote.

What a surreal suggestion by the OP. Why would anyone think that New Yorkers wanted palm trees?

If NYC had that LA climate, we would be the best city in the entire universe

I hate everything about LA aside from the weather. The weather seems mad nice. But everything else about LA is horrible. The plastic surgeries, the smog, the crime, the lack of reliable public transportation. LA is like a girl with 10/10 looks but the worst personality in the world

As a native of a place that has palm trees, the answer is No.

Palm trees are beautiful...and placing them in a vicinity where there is >99% chance that it will be desecrated (via urine, human feces, spit, vomit, and the all popular dog feces, litter, etc) is just wrong.

Palm trees are pretty useless, especially the types that were imported to LA. They require a lot of water, they don't provide any popular fruit and don't provide any shade.

Absolutely useless.

Also, count me as one of those who prefer the northeast seasons. It never really feels like Thanksgiving or Christmas when the weather never changes.
