how do you picture the Fordham Bedford area in the future-- ie 194th to 198th between Jerome and Webster? do you think putting a sports complex(or whatever it was was that was proposed) in the K'bridge Armory might change the area?

Do you venture much in the Bronx? I have read of you traveling within Riverdale though. I'm just curious because you are the only person who lives in Riverdale aside from myself and am trying to get some perspective.

yes, I work in Wakefield (239th off WP Rd) I get my car serviced on Fordham Rd, I often go to Barnes & Noble in Bay Plaza, Co-op City, I go to follow up visits at the Montefiore Cancer Clinic off Westchester Sq, etc so i am all over (the safer areas at least) and Fordham Bedford i often short cut to get home from Midas, the clinic, etc so ive gotten to know the areas pretty well. ive gone to house parties and retirement dinners in Morris Park and Pelham Bay etc

I am in New Jersey, Westchester or Manhattan most of the time when I am not in Riverdale, so I am not too familiar with most areas of the Bronx. I do venture along Broadway in your area (really moreso in the Kingsbridge/Riverdale border) but that is rare and via car. I do have a question... I pass through portions of Sedgwick north of Fordham Road from time to time and that area seems ok. What area is that considered to be?

So is Sedgwick north of Fordham Road okay? I am wondering because Sedgwick runs through University Heights and Morris Heights both of which are supposedly bad areas.

Sedgwick N of Fordham is better than south of it, it's a quieter, cleaner street than what lies to the east, but street crime doesn't really drop off till you get past the bottom of the reservoir (W 197th/W231 street). i have seen some physical improvement on Sedgwick in this area tho around 195th and 197th(less graffiti).

That Lowes went on fire???? A 4th or 5th alarm. When did you see it open?

What do I see in those areas? Much of the same. The biggest obstacle in terms of changing the landscape of the area is the Public Schools. The school system in NYC is the biggest reason middle class families leave for the burbs.
