The W train has been "coming to an end" for about a year, or more... I think it's a useless train, and should be gotten rid of, but I'm just saying how often these things actually happen like they're supposed to.
The V was way more useless than the W atleast the W did help keep crushloads down on the N and R....The V does NOTHING and is always empty even the bums wont ride the spacious V....Now the M is suppose to take over the V in June dont know if the M is going to be much better at being used.
As for the OP question, the W takes you farther downtown than the N also the W as I stated eariler is like a "Helper" train for the N in Qns and R in Manhattan

The V line is not useless during rush hours between 71st Ave/Continental & Roosevelt Avenue (where it replaced G line service) as then it is quite full/crowded. You definitely need 2 subway lines in that area or to make other local train "R" double its current frequency there.

We wouldn't need that though if the R train wasn't so slow.
