Yes, I know Craigslist, but I haven't gotten that many bites.

I'm looking for female roommate to live in lower Manhattan, budget is between $1,500 and $2,000 per person, for a total rent of $3-4k. I have all furniture, so roommate would only need to furnish their room.

I don't really like the idea of moving into someone else's place, and would like to select my own apartment and then have someone else move in with me. Any other suggestions?

You're starting your MA here, right? Ask your school's housing office- I know Columbia and NYU have places where potential roommates can find each other and I imagine other schools do as well.

If you have a Facebook, you can always create a listing in the Marketplace, and you might be able to find someone in your school's network who is interested.
