@ G. Costanza Its to promote their own agendas and spread around ideas that are generally untrue about a neighborhood. For example, @long live new york that is a hilarious comment that Ridgewood, Queens is mostly albanian, polish neighborhood. Btw, according to "long live new york" Ridgewood, Queens is only Fresh Pond Rd. everything else is "North Bushwick". The true breakdown of Ridgewood is mainly Hispanic (around 45-50% Hispanic and i can provide links to actually back my statements up) alot of Ecuadorians are live there then Dominicans and PuertoRicans and finally there's a good group of Mexicans and Columbians. Granted there are a good number of Europeans specifically among the avenues of Fresh Pond Rd. and Forest Ave. but anywhere above those two avenues there are generally more Hispanics in the area. (I would say that Europeans do account for a good number, probably 35-40% of the area) you can never really know since they would go under the category of white along with the other white folks who are not European. Ridgewood has a good number of people from Nepal and the Phillipines (they account for around 10-12%) of the area and there are also a small number of Black people (mainly Haitian) moving in around the Seneca through St. Nicholas Avenues of Ridgewood and past that is scattered. (They account for roughly 2-4% of the population) overall a very diverse neighborhood and as any other neighborhood in NYC it has its good parts and its bad parts.
I wouldn't want to live in Manhattan even if I had the income. All those artists, hipsters, yuppies holding their lattes in one hand and a cell phone in the other, with their faded jeans and flipflops. Its NAUSEATING.
There is one place I like, though. Way up there around Spanish Harlem, near the George Washington Bridge along the Hudson river.

Look into Sunset Park, Prospect Park, Ghetto Williamsburg, East Flatbush in Brooklyn...
FYI, thats washington heights. Spanish harlem is on the EAST side from 96th st north to the bx. Also, if you dont like diversity, why are you moving to ny? I think its just awful how people freely put down others on this site. Try embracing others, not spreading your resentment. Nobody wants to hear about your hang-ups.
Hey rob3in, you claimmed to have lived in NY your whole life... So why the need to post questions in another thread asking where the in and hip areas are in NY.. If you lived in NY and been to every inch of the city as you claim you would already know that? Right? Also why would you say that you would not go to the entire borough of the Bronx? If you truely have been to evey inch of this city you would also know that every section of the Bronx is not an area that needs to be avoided and is very ignort to say that about an entire borough...

flushing queens is far more dangerous than ozone park..go to the Pomonok Projects if u dont belive me..alot of shootings...bland houses also..colden street has a big black population and is dangerous, so is sanford avenue, willets point, and kissena blvd around the projects
