Public vs Private Schools in Forest Hills (tuition, best)

It depends on which public school. Also, when you say "private" school, do you mean Catholic/Parochial school or an actual private school?

If you're talking about real private schools ( tuitions 25K-40K/year), I would take that over any public school.

If you're talking about Catholic or Parochial school, I would do a thorough investigation of the school before sending my child there. I made the mistake of sending my child to a Catholic school for 5 years (k-4th) thinking I was doing what was best and it turned out to be a very big mistake. Academically, the school wasn't nearly on-par with the public schools and socially, it was a great difference (with public school being much more diverse and accepting).
