Me and my girl are planning on relocating to new york.
I am a photographer and she is a hair stylist/makeup artist, so were looking for that little extra space for a mini studio set up.
we have the option of living in Bayonne for $950mo near the light rail, 4 br.
or living in a loft approx. 600-800 sq floor space in Bushwick for $1200mo.

I cant decide which to pursue,
CAN YOU TELL ME ANY MORE ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES?!

here are some already thought of..

Bayonne:
+:
Big space
Cheap Rent
Safe
Park nearby
Nice Landlord
-:
Older demographic
Light rail 30min to Journal sq 30 min on PATH to nyc.
No nightlife
will be hard to get friends to come over.
will be hard to get ny models to come to studio.
3 transportation fares.
no fridge (maybe)

Bushwick:
+:
loft space w/ huge windows
utilities included
washer and dryers in basement
roof hangout
partys
young demographic
artist types
15 minutes by L to the city.
one fare for transportation.
late night activities/food.
no need for car.
lots of bands play in the area.
-:
bedbugs!
not as safe
dirty
some areas are just ugly barren wasteland.
no greenery

suggestions... ?

Why do you have(or think you have) only those two miserable options ? I wouldn't take either one.

For $1,200/mo you should be able to find something larger, cleaner, more comfortable and in a much nicer neighborhood than Bushwick but still near a NYC subway line.Try looking in less "hip" areas of Brooklyn,Queens or The Bronx.

Bayonne isn't miserable , but i wonder why he didn't pick something like Jersey City or Hoboken like most ppl or Long Island City.

^^^^^LOL, if I had a choice Bushwick. Bayonne is just disconnected from the rest of the world or that's how I always so it.

Check out Journal Square in Jersey City. Its close to the PATH station and should be comparable to Bushwick in prices but safer overall. Go to the New Jersey forum for more info.

I'd rather sleep on the beach in Long island. 2 miserable options.
