I am planning on moving to NYC in August. I am a writer, but still in the early stages of my career. I was wondering how easy it would be to become a writer upon my move.
How easy? You mean how hard...? In new york, anything is possible, but get ready to sacrifice and work very hard. If it's a dream and you have the drive and talent, you'll make it, but prepare yourself for a year of freelance and unpaid internships. But if you're a true creative, its never about the money anyway. Welcome to the ride.
I don't think it is within anyone's power to predict whether you'll make it as a writer or not. If you want to move here, then that's great! But it's sort of like asking if you'll land a tv show or a broadway show after moving to Los Angeles or NYC if you are an actor. There's just no way to know. But NYC is a great city and is great for creative types. Good luck to you!
