Btw, as many of you know I am not from the midwest. I lived in NYC for almost fourteen years. Just hoping for a change in scenery, so to speak, when I return. Those darned tangents, again. Assumptions..."Kansas..." Give me a break. lol

Nala8, you were looking at Jackson Heights as well, right? Today I stumbled across this message board: Jackson Heights Life - Jackson Heights NY -. Thought it might be helpful for you if you are still considering that neighborhood.

In my opinion, Woodside is a tad on the messy side, but if you're on an express stop on the 7 train in woodside then I'd say it isn't so bad. From my observation, it seems Woodside is a Latin community.
A friend of mine lives in Sunnyside and I really like the area. Plus, the train is just up the block. Sunnyside is pretty diverse. It use to be an Irish neighborhood and you can tell from the Irish bars on Queens Blvd, but it's changed. There are a lot of young working professionals in the area along with a small Korean and Turkish population. Anything with young working professionals who have a 9 to 5 job is always a healthy sign.

By messy do you mean a lot of litter or something? The area looked pretty clean to me when I drove down Northern Boulevard.
