A friend told me about Mamaronec, guess i got some bad info.

What about Johnson City?

I've only been to Utica, Niagra Falls, and Arbor Hill in Albany so what i listed is mostly from word of mouth.

FOX 40 WICZ TV - JC Crime Out of Control [5/18/2010] - News, Sports, Weather, Contests and More - Binghamton, NY Johnson City crime has just about doubled in the last 5 years it is getting really bad. Also Endicott only has about 50 violent crimes a year but I bet at least 95% of them happen in the small neighborhood of central endicott.

Uh, Johnson City is a city, just a smaller one. I mean, they don't call it Johnson TOWN or Johnson VILLAGE.

It sounds like both, which are villages(but really are urban in character) have an area to avoid(just south of "Downtown" JC and Central Endicott). It seems like it occurs most in areas of those communities where the housing is older and cheaper too. So, it's pretty much stay away from those areas of those communities and your generally fine. Both still have alright schools too.

That's interesting, as in the Syracuse area, East Syracuse is similar in terms of bigger homes for the railroaders becoming split up. So, in essence all of those neighborhoods have housing that was specifically based for the steady working class, that is now used for lower income families. East Syracuse's crime rate is higher than the other suburbs, but I wouldn't say that it is generally "bad", per se. Same somewhat with Solvay too.

Yeah, most of the E-J homes in central endicott are multi families now, according to city-data around 84% of central endicott rents.

And we shouldn't ask why you are doing this research and where you are getting your information?

That makes sense, as the village of East Syracuse is about 50% rentals. What has helped there is that they have a curfew for those 16 and under to keep things in check. Solvay has a curfew too.
