Hi,

My wife and I are looking to buy a house/townhouse in Fishkill. The units in the Round Hill development seem like a decent value, size vs. price / fees, and they are close to the village. Does anyone have any experience with this development, good or bad? Any thoughts on the nearby school, Fishkill Elementary? Thanks.

I've lived in the village for 40 years-I moved away for the 1st four years of our marriage and been back for the last 19. We've have friends that live over in Round Hill. They've really liked it-they've been there since they were built. I've been in the townhouses and they are nice-see if you can get one that's been renovated-it's been a bit now since they were built. You are close enough to walk to the village-but do be aware that traffic can be heavy in the area. Also the back way to Maurerbrook-you can walk to Geering Park where there are ball fields, picnic area/pavillion, playground, basketball and tennis courts.

As to Fishkill Elementary-it is hands down the best elementary school in the district. I went there as well as my 3 kids-last one left two years ago. It's a very close knit school. Dr. McNally the principal is a favorite with all the kids. One big plus with this school-if the school budget doesn't pass-these kids STILL get to do field trips as they can walk to many places in the village-the fire house-they've been to banks to see how they really work, to the Village hall to see how local government runs. Plus the entire school does a "UFO" day-aka Halloween-they go to various places on Main Street and do a costume parade. At Christmas-the whole school again-goes out and sings to the businesses. Many fun things to do at the school-and all the teachers there are there for the right reasons.
