I've heard people talk about Elmira on here poorly, but I was wondering about Corning. I went to college near there in the early 90's and Corning wasn't that cool, but I drove through it a few weeks ago and it looks kind of cool. Any thoughts?

People used to describe that area as the armpit/Appalachia of NY. Things at least 'may' be changing. l think the stretch between Syracuse & Binghamton (Oneonta area) may be the worst.
