Applied for a job in Johnstown and am curious what it is like. Is the housing affordable? Is it a depressed area? Any insight would be appreciated.

Yep- I don't even know where Johnstown is... but I hear names of towns all the time, in NY, and previously had no idea they even existed.

It's one of the Glove Cities(along with Gloversville) and it is in the Mohawk Valley between Utica and Schenectady.

Didn't know where Gloversville was either so thank you for clarifying that it's in the Mohawk Valley! lol - the most I know about that in-between area is that Little Falls is where one of my husband's co-workers commutes from, Fonda is where we get off to go to the Kateri Tekakwitha shrine (gorgeous grounds with lots of French-Indian history, buildings and martyrdom sites, even if you aren't Catholic...) and Amsterdam, where we get off the Thruway to cut up to the Northway... bypassing the entire Albany in-out via Amsterdam>Ballston Spa and shaving an hour off our time to visit the ILs in NH/VT.
