Wink Liberal art oriented towns in NYS

I just moved up to Bearsville which is a part of Woodstock. I love this town. They are accepting of everyone from the homeless mentally ill person to wealthy celebrities. There is help available for single parents, domestic abuse survivors. Even a store that gives clothing away free for those in need. People are always out and about and the police don't seem to bother anyone to move along. There is diversity, art, music and culture. There is always something to do. Reminds me of what the Village in NYC used to be in a rural setting.

Ithaca, Woodstock, the Westcott/University area of Syracuse, the Park Ave. area of Rochester, parts of North Buffalo and maybe parts of Albany and Troy too.

Not really. Upstate is/can be pretty moderate in most parts, if not even conservative.

Very true. Outside of interspersed pockets, it's pretty darned conversative. It's much like the midwest.
