Thinking about moving to Elmira? Think again! The reason why real estate is so cheap in Elmira is because the majority of the properties are still full of toxic mold from the flood of 1972. Flooded homes have mud covered over the electrical switch boxes from the flood over 30 years ago. Imagine what the buildings are full of...TOXIC MOLD. Some homes are sitting on a floating slab .... we lived there for 1 year and my little girl became sick, she saw an infectious disease specialist who told me she was exposed to toxic mold. Called the Landlord and she stated she knew nothing about it but I called previous residents and they experienced the same sickness in their children. All experienced calling the local Codes department only to find the local police department at their door threatening if they called Codes again, they will be arrested for harassment. Anyone interested in moving there beware, sure it's cheap but not worth dying over! We moved out far, far away!

Really? I know many people in Elmira who don't have any problems relating to mold.
